November-December, 2009. Safe Harbor was called upon to respond to Typhoon Mirinae, which claimed hundreds of lives and thousands of homes in the highlands of Vietnam. In previous years, Safe Harbor has trained several Vietnamese pastors, some of which contacted us due to the devastation of their communities. Approximately 350 homes were destroyed in an area where Safe Harbor has ministered in the past. Safe Harbor has responded to the call to serve by sending a small mission’s team to Vietnam for the purposes of:
Training and ministering to pastors, whose communities have been affected by the disaster
Analyzing relief and development needs
Distributing funds for aid
Over a period of 3 days, Safe Harbor delivered pastoral training to approximately 45 pastors, many of whom traveled from distant areas. The missions team visited some of the affected communites and distributed funds for relief aid to those in need.
