Church Plants

Prior to the arrival of Safe Harbor, a missionary presence had been absent from Midigo since the 1970’s due to hostility toward Christians from the local people. In demonstrating the love of Christ in practical ways to the people of Midigo, doors have been opened for the gospel to go forth and for church plants to be established.

One of our original nurses shared how her desire was to love and serve the people while encouraging the few Christians that lived there.

That is what we did and in 2001, Safe Harbor planted the only evangelical church in Midigo Sub-county. Calvary Chapel Midigo has flourished into a church ministry with over 200 members and a focus upon discipleship, training, evangelism, and the expositional teaching of the Word of God. This growth eventually led to a church plant in Yumbe town in 2009 and Arua in 2010. The churches have since become independently operated Calvary Chapels in 2011.

Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. Psalms 96:1-4 ESV
